The EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters), South Africa's third largest political party, protested at the US Consulate in Cape Town. They protested police brutality and in honour of George Floyd and Collins Khosa, as well as in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Vernonic Mente, the national chairperson of the EFF, addressed the crowd who held placards and wore black t-shirts with "I can't breathe" printed on them.

The crowd went down on one kneed for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is alleged to have placed his knee on George Floyd's neck for, resulting in his death.

Collins Khosa, a black man in South Africa, died after being assaulted by soldiers during South Africa's Covid 19 lockdown. The soldiers were cleared of responsibility for his death.
