South Korea has set restrictions on drugs used to treat diabetes after the government has found cancer causing impurity, called (NITRO-SODI-METHA-LAMIN) 'Nitrosodimethylamine.'
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said Tuesday that 31 out of 2-hundred 88 drug products for diabetes have been found to contain a (NITRO-SA-MIN) nitrosamine impurity above the acceptable limit.
However, the ministry emphasized the impurity is not expected to cause harm at low levels.
More than 260-thousand patients have been prescribed these drugs by doctors in South Korea.
