North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hasn't been seen much lately, but a report says he recently led a high-level military meeting,... about strategies to strengthen the regime's nuclear deterrence.
This was Kim's first appearance in public in 22 days.
Our Kim Jae-hee has this report.
The regime's state-run Korean Central News Agency... reported Sunday... that Kim Jong-un presided over a meeting of the Workers' Party Central Military Commission... in which he discussed new policies to strengthen North Korea's nuclear deterrence and its strategic armed forces.
The report doesn't elaborate on those policies or say even when the meeting was held.
But it says key measures were laid out there... to increase nuclear deterrence considerably.
Kim reportedly signed seven orders,... including those aimed at reorganizing the military command system, and enhancing the roles of major military training institutes.
Also at the meeting, personnel were appointed to the Central Military Commission and to high-ranking military posts.
One of Kim Jong-un's close advisors, Ri Pyong-chol, was elected as the commission's vice-chairman.
The last time Kim Jong-un led a meeting of the commission was six months ago, on December 22nd.
And this latest meeting was the first time he's appeared in public in 22 days.
The last time was at a fertilizer factory on May 1st, which put to rest rumors that he was incapacitated or even dead.
But because his appearances are so infrequent, speculation about his health continues.
The pictures of him published Sunday by KCNA, however, do not show any particular signs of health problems.
