With Union government's decision to not extend the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir beyond the holy Islamic month of Ramzan, the full resumption of cordon-and-search and search-and-destroy operations have been resumed to prevent terror attacks in the state. Earlier on May 16, the Centre had announced the Unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir valley keeping in mind the holy month of Ramzan.
