Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath advised farmers to grow other crops, not only sugarcane. In a statement, he said that excessive production of sugarcane leads to 'Diabetes'. At a road inauguration programme in Baghpat, CM Adityanath said, "You must start growing other crops besides sugarcane. Excess production of sugarcane leads to its more consumption, which, in turn, causes sugar (diabetes)'. At least 38 percent of the country's total sugar production is produced in Uttar Pradesh.
