In a 4:1 landmark judgment, the Supreme Court on Friday struck down the century-old rule of the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala and ruled that women of all age groups can now enter the Ayyappa temple. A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said that banning the entry of women into the shrine is gender discrimination and the practice violates the rights of Hindu women.
