Reuters reports Fauci warned that lifting lockdowns too soon could lead to additional outbreaks of the deadly coronavirus.
The novel coronavirus COVID-19 has killed 80,000 Americans. That's the highest death toll in the world.
The pandemic has also brought the economy to its knees and has thrown tens of millions of Americans out of work.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said the virus epidemic is not yet under control in areas of the nation.
