The Congressional Deaf Caucus has sent a letter to the White House urging inclusion.
The letter requests an American sign language interpreter be present at all televised public health briefings.
According to Business Insider, the request was sent by Reps. Takano and John Rutherford, to Mike Pence.
The Caucus is made up of 28 members of Congress, including 2 Republicans and 26 Democrats.
Governors and local officials in all 50 states have had sign language interpreters at their briefings.
Interpreters are vital so that deaf and hard of hearing individuals have equal access to COVID-19 information.
The request was also signed by six additional members of the Caucus.
