문 대통령 "하나의 일자리도 반드시 지키겠다…위기 이겨내자"
President Moon Jae-in has again pledged all efforts to keep Koreans employed.
Speaking to hotel executives and employees at Grand Walkerhill Seoul earlier today, he thanked both the management and labor for recently striking a deal to avoid "artificial restructuring."
This followed efforts by the Korea Hotel Association and the Korean Federation of Tourist and Service Industry Worker's Unions to work together to overcome the crisis together and protect jobs.
We are fast approaching an employment crisis, but the government is determined to protect every single job and will be by your side. Management and labor have set the best example by combining their efforts during this difficult time. They have shown a resolve to protect jobs rather than restructure.
President Moon said he hopes such efforts will spread across the service and manufacturing sectors as keeping workers employed is key to overcoming the COVID-19 crisis unlike the during Asian Financial Crisis when the focus had been massive layoffs.
The government has set aside over 8 billion U.S. dollars to cushion the impact on jobs,... and it's unveiled measures worth 32 billion dollars to support the country's key industries to ensure they stay afloat and keep workers employed.
