A six-year-old girl was left squeaking "like a dolphin" after she accidentally swallowed a whistle in northern China's Xi'an on April 19.

The video, provided by local media with permission, shows the girl squeaking like a dolphin when a doctor asked her to breathe.

In a X-ray picture, a plastic whistle was seen stuck on the right side of the girl's main trachea.

The girl was reportedly swallowing the whistle by accident when she put it in her mouth to play.

It took around nine hours for the doctors to remove the whistle from the girl's trachea by means of surgery.
