코로나 한파라지만... 기업들 사회적 거리두기 채용 실시
Recruitment may be slow, but it is still happening here in South Korea.
The nation's big companies have found ways to hire while keeping with social distancing.
Eum Ji-young shows us how.
Sitting 5 meters apart to maintain social distancing, more than one hundred job applicants sat a public company's recruitment exam at a football stadium in Ansan, south west of Seoul.
"It was cold so it was a bit hard to take the exam, but it's still a relief that I could."
Many companies put recruitment plans on hold due to COVID-19 but are now back to searching for new recruits.
It normally takes around three days for one of South Korea's largest insurers, Hyundai Insurance, to test applicants in the first round of its hiring process as all selected candidates have to gather at a set place.
But this year, the company has turned to artificial intelligence instead to minimize human contact.
"This year, we decided to replace face-to-face interviews with an AI interview to help applicants save their time without having to travel around and secure safety at the same time."
Other conglomerates, including Hyundai Motor Group, SK Innovation, and Kakao Corporation are also using remote interviews to hire staff.
"SK Innovation decided to resume recruitment to ease the reeling job market and help relieve job seekers' concerns."
"As South Korean companies are increasingly introducing artificial intelligence and online interviews into the recruitment process, many jobseekers are learning how to deal with this new approach."
University students, who could graduate into an uncertain employment climate due to the pandemic, say they are preparing with practice rounds of remote screening tests and online interviews...as interviewing online and in person are two different experiences.
