The residential areas in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market have been placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO).

Barbed wires have been placed from the entrance of the wholesale market near the Batu Caves temple roundabout up to the Sri Murni apartments.

Police and soldiers were seen manning roadblocks at every junction, ordering scores of people who wanted to enter the area to head back home.

Armed Forces chief General Affendy Buang and his entourage left the area at about 1pm.
