As many as thirty CRPF jawans were killed and dozens of others injured in a major IED blast triggered by terrorists in a vehicle carrying them in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday. The vehicle was blown up by an improvised explosive device or IED explosion on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipora area of the district, a police official said, adding that the exact number of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The incident occurred at Lethpora on the Srinagar-Anantnag highway followed by gunshots aimed at the security forces in Pulwama district this afternoon.
