At the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic that has cost more than 125,000 lives so far, US President Donald Trump said on April 14, 2020, that he would suspend US payments to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Trump also ordered his government to investigate alleged missteps by the United Nations health agency in its actions to counter the disease caused by a deadly new coronavirus first detected in China.
