The United States is one of the countries that's been hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It now has the second highest number of fatalities in the world - at well over 16-thousand - with infections still rising sharply.
Yoon Jung-min has the details.
The number of COVID-19 infections in the United States has topped 460-thousand as of Thursday.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the total death toll was over 16-thousand,... which is the second highest in the world.
The state of New York reported about 10-thousand new infections on Thursday,... bringing the total in the state to more than 159-thousand.
A number of states have been strongly asking people to keep social distancing,... while 15 states have ordered schools to remain closed.
The U.S. is stressing the importance of social distancing during services ahead of Easter this weekend.
During a briefing at the White House on Thursday,... U.S. President Donald Trump said that more than two-million coronavirus tests have been completed so far.
With the pandemic hurting many businesses in the U.S.,... Trump announced that his administration will come up with a package to support airlines,... as well as farmers.
"The airline business has been hit very hard as everybody knows, and we are going to be in a position to do a lot to help them so that they keep their employees and they save their businesses."
The U.S. Federal Reserve announced on Thursday that it's going to inject another 2-point-3 trillion U.S. dollars to help the American economy.
The Fed said it will offer up to 500-billion dollars in loans through purchasing municipal bonds and expanding an existing corporate lending program.
The move comes as nearly 17-million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits in the past three weeks,... as the COVID-19 outbreak wreaks havoc on the U.S. economy.
