A grocery shop in rural Thailand uses a pulley to serve customers in order to follow social distancing rules during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Owner Thongsuk Chansae transformed her shop with a complex system of baskets tied to ropes in Uthai Thani, central Thailand.

Footage from Wednesday morning (April 8) shows how the owner and her daughter serve visitors using pulleys surrounding the shop.

The owner said it was more complicated this way but she thinks it is necessary to prevent further coronavirus infections.

She said: "Normally the customer is allowed to come in and pick the goods themselves but we were worried about the Covid-19 pandemic so we have to find a way to keep the distant.

"We have been working harder since we adapt to using this method but it made me feel safer this way and hopefully the situation will be better soon so we could operate normally.

The Uthai Thani province has so far recorded only one case out of 2,423 cases and 32 deaths across the country.
