Penang jogger caught defying MCO pleads not guilty

A cardiologist has pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing a public servant from discharging duties in enforcing the movement control order (MCO)that took effect on March 18.

Dr Ong Hean Teik, 61, was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, or a maximum fine of RM10,000, or both, if found guilty.

Ong is also charged under regulations 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
