The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA (acronym of Gran Turismo Alleggerita), was presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show on 18 February 1965.
The production version weighed 745 kg, compared to the 950 kg of the Giulia Sprint GT, and the engine delivered 115 hp.
The modifications made by Chiti were, in addition to a lightening made thanks to the use of Peraluman 25 panels that allowed to lower the weight of about 200 kg, Plexiglas windows, mechanical components in magnesium; the adoption of a new rear suspension that allowed to lower the roll centre, called "sledge", the 1,570 cm³ engine with double ignition (two spark plugs per cylinder) and bigger carburettors (Weber DCOE 45). In the versions prepared for competitions it could reach the power of 160 - 170 hp with a reduced weight of an additional 45 kg by eliminating bumpers, seats and other small parts.
