The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Chhattisgarh Police has registered a fresh case against unidentified civil servants in multi-crore Public Distribution System (PDS) scam and launched a probe. As per EOW, the investigation in the alleged scam revealed that through bogus ration cards, which were made in all 27 districts of state, around 1,108,515 tonne rice was distributed due to which state government suffered a loss of Rs 2,718 crore between 2013 to 2016.

ईओडब्ल्यू ने बीजेपी सरकार के कार्यकाल में हुए इस घोटाले में केस दर्ज करने के बाद नए सिरे से जांच शुरू कर दी है. 'नान' के बाद पीडीएस में हुए इस स्कैम को छत्तीसगढ़ का सबसे बड़ा घोटाला माना जा रहा है. ईओडब्ल्यू की जांच में यह खुलासा हुआ है कि राज्य में जिन अफसरों पर पीडीएस दुकानों में राशन पहुंचाने और उसके सत्यापन की जिम्मेदारी थी, उन्होंने ही 10 लाख फर्जी राशन कार्ड बनवाकर करोड़ों रुपये का घोटाला किया.
