A tortoise was fed an apple by a generous chimpanzee who put the fruit next to the small reptile's mouth so they could both take turns at eating in a TikTok video
A kind-hearted chimpanzee has taken the internet by storm after it was filmed gently feeding bits of apple to a hungry tortoise in a viral TikTok video.
In the clip, the chimp is seen sitting on a patch of grass as it offers the apple to a tortoise standing by its side which takes serval nibbles of the apple.
The patient chimp then takes a couple of bites before sharing the fruit with the tortoise again, with the apple going back-and-forth between the pair.
Footage was originally shared on the popular Chinese video-sharing social network TikTok by user @mokshabybee where it went viral with 38.2 million views and 2.4 million likes.
It is not clear where the footage was taken, but the story made headlines in India when it was shared by Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda.
The IFS officer shared the video with the caption: “Love only grows by sharing.”
It quickly made an impression, with animal lovers commenting, “what great bonding”, “such an amazing video”, and “this brought happiness to my day”.
This comes after a vicious troop of monkeys invaded a government office block in India and forced workers to flee.
The apes climbed in from a balcony and employees have been advised to carry slingshots.
Meanwhile, a distressing video showed an orphan monkey being forced to serve drinks as its "bar job" entertaining customers in Japan.
In Thailand, another monkey with a chain wrapped around its neck was filmed lifting weights to amuse tourists.
