In an indication that the government is reluctant to drop contentious questions from the National Population Register (NPR) form, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had told a Parliamentary standing committee that these questions were asked in the past as well and are necessary for back-end data processing.

गृहमंत्रालय की स्टैंडिंग कमेटी ने डिमांड फॉर ग्रांट्स (2020-2021) की रिपोर्ट राज्यसभा में गुरुवार को रखी है। इस कमेटी की अध्यक्षता कांग्रेस सांसद आनंद शर्मा कर रहे हैं। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि एनपीआर फॉर्म 2020 में माता-पिता के जन्मस्थान और उनकी जन्मतिथि को लेकर सवाल पूछे गए हैं। इसपर सरकार का तर्क है कि इससे बैक एंड डेटा प्रोसेसिंग और मजबूत होगा।
