Locals in Chand Bagh area of Northeast Delhi formed a human chain to protect Sri Durga Fakiri Mandir in the area when violence broke out there. It was alleged that during human chain formation, rioters pelted stones on the locals. Speaking to ANI, the temple’s priest Om Prakash said, "Locals – both Hindus and Muslims were alert. They saw to it that no outsider comes here." Meanwhile, a localite Asif said, “We formed a human chain and didn't let the rioters step forward. Many of us suffered injuries after rioters pelted stones. But we didn't let them step forward because this isn't just a temple, it's a symbol of our prestige. Hindus and Muslims protected this temple together.” Communal riots have engulfed the Northeast region of Delhi where violent clashes between pro and anti-CAA groups turned communal and killed 38 people till Thursday.
