A two-year-old boy survived after being flung from of a car that was hit by a reckless driver on a motorway.

The youngster was sitting on his father's lap when the accident happened in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia on Monday (February 10) afternoon.

Dashcam footage shows how a Perodua Myvi and a blue Honda Jazz were playing 'cat and mouse' when they clipped the family's vehicle containing the youngster.

The family's Honda Civic spun out of control and the door swung open. The boy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, landed on the highway coming within inches of being ran over by approaching cars.

Police said the youngster suffered grazes across his body but did not break any bones or have any serious injuries. He was picked up at the scene by an ambulance and taken to hospital.

Traffic officer Ibrahim Mohd Abdul Kadir said: ''In the crash, the suspect, who was driving a Perodua Myvi on the left lane, drew up alongside a Honda Jazz on the right lane before it returned to the left lane.

''He tried to change lane once again but collided with a Honda Civic, causing the Civic to lose control and ram into the road divider before crashing into the rear end of the Myvi.''

Police said the 20-year-old driver of the white Perodua Myvi was arrested on Tuesday (February 11), while the 23-year-old driver of the blue Honda Jazz surrendered himself to the police.
