A battle for territory was fought by an Australian brushturkey and an invading goanna at Brisbane's Mt Coot-tha Botanic gardens on January 15.

Footage shows the lizard and bird within some shrubbery where the turkey is seen flinging debris from the ground at the lizard while taking bites of its tail.

The defiant lizard continues to dig in search of eggs as it receives the onslaught but eventually retreats.
