Despite weeks of protests by thousands of citizens and students across India,The Centre on Friday announced that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act will come into force from January 10.The CAA, which has led to widespread protests in the country, grants citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Afghanistan by the cut-off date of December 31, 2014.

विरोध प्रदर्शन के बीच देश में शुक्रवार से नागरिकता संशोधन कानून 2019 लागू हो गया है. केंद्र सरकार ने इसे लेकर नोटिफिकेशन भी जारी कर दिया है. गृह मंत्रालय की ओर से अधिसूचना जारी की गई है, जिसमें 10 जनवरी 2020 से इस कानून को लागू करने की घोषणा की गई है. बता दें कि नागरिकता अधिनियम, 1955 में बदलाव करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार नागरिकता संशोधन बिल लेकर आई. बिल को संसद में पास करवाया गया और राष्ट्रपति के हस्ताक्षर के बाद ये कानून बन गया. अब सरकार ने इसका नोटिफिकेशन भी जारी कर दिया है.
