Mistletoe is a tree that has been considered miraculous in Christianity. On Christmas day, lovers have a tradition of standing under this tree and kissing each other. It is believed that couples kissing under this tree get married among themselves. In the UK, when this tree is associated with Christmas, in France this tree is gifted to each other on the New Year, because people there consider this tree a symbol of good fortune and happiness. In some traditional stories, this tree is also considered auspicious for fertility, that is, women who do not have children are advised to plant this tree at home.

मिसल्टो (Mistletoe) एक ऐसा पेड़ है जिसे ईसाई धर्म में चमत्कारी माना गया है। क्रिसमस के दिन प्रेमी जोड़ों में इस पेड़ के नीचे खड़े होकर एक दूसरे को चूमने (Kiss करने) की परंपरा है। ऐसा माना जाता है इस पेड़ के नीचे चूमने वाले जोड़ों का आपस में विवाह हो जाता है। यूके में इस पेड़ को क्रिसमस से जोड़ा जाता है, तो फ्रांस में इस पेड़ को नए साल पर एक दूसरे को गिफ्ट किया जाता है, क्योंकि वहां लोग इस पेड़ को अच्छे भाग्य और खुशियों का प्रतीक मानते हैं। कुछ पारंपरिक कहानियों में इस पेड़ को फर्टिलिटी के लिए भी शुभ माना जाता है, यानी जिन स्त्रियों को बच्चा नहीं होता है, उन्हें घर में ये पेड़ लगाने की सलाह दी जाती है।
