Public transport workers in Madrid staged a 24-hour strike and held protests in the Spanish capital.

It is the latest action in an ongoing dispute with EMT (Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid), the city-owned body that runs public transport in the capital.

Coming as the city also hosted the UN 'COP25' climate talks, the strike and associated protests caused significant transport disruption.

The unions want an immediate increase in the workforce and measures to improve the quality of the service, in addition to a firm commitment not to privatise EMT.
