MLB to Add More Safety Netting at Stadiums.
All 30 teams in pro baseball will implement the extra safety precaution.
The move comes after a rise in injuries to spectators from foul balls.
In 2018, a 79-year-old woman in Los Angeles died from injuries after being hit.
From 2012 to 2019, a report from NBC News says that foul balls have injured over 800 people.
According to Commissioner Rob Manfred, some teams will have netting that spread over the whole field.
Manfred adds that MLB teams agreed to having extra nets without a rule being passed.
There was no rule passed or anything like that. We just went out, talked to the clubs, made the case that extending netting was the thing to do, and the clubs individually responded in a positive way
