President Ram Nath Kovind Thursday gave his assent to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, even as violent protests continued to rock the state of Assam. In view of the protests, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is planning to cancel his trip to Guwahati for a summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to begin on Sunday, Japan's Jiji Press reported.
