The search and rescue effort by authorities on White Island in New Zealand following a volcano eruption on Monday have been hampered by increasing tremors that are affecting the island.

The sudden eruption and resulting explosion claimed the lives of six people including one Malaysian. Another eight are missing and hopes of finding them alive are fading.
