The Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the national capital on December 09.
US Commission on International Religious Freedom reiterated similar concerns over the legislation saying:
"The Bill enshrines a pathway to citizenship for immigrants that specifically excludes Muslims, setting a legal criterion for citizenship based on religion."

పౌరసత్వ సవరణ బిల్లు సెగ అమెరికాను తాకింది. రాజ్యసభలో బిల్లు పాసై అమల్లోకి వచ్చిందంటే దేశం ప్రమాదంలోకి నెట్టివేయబడుతుందని అమెరికా అంతర్జాతీ మత స్వేచ్ఛా కమిషన్ హెచ్చరించింది. రాజ్యసభలో బిల్లు పాసై అమల్లోకి వస్తే అమిత్ షా పై ప్రభుత్వ నాయకత్వంపై ఆంక్షలు తప్పవని కమిషన్ హెచ్చరించింది. ఆమేరకు చర్యలు తీసుకోవాల్సిందిగా అమెరికా ప్రభుత్వానికి సూచిస్తామని అంతర్జాతీయ మత స్వేచ్ఛా కమిషన్ పేర్కొంది.
