A drunk American tourist was arrested after allegedly attacking a red letterbox.
Daniel James Franckowiak, 46, was caught on a CCTV pushing over the structure in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand at 6pm on December 1.
He then kicked it while it was on the floor and calmly walked away.
Police said the American, who was born in Korea, then attacked a McDonald's mascot the next day outside a fast-food restaurant.
Franckowiak was arrested in the morning of December 6 near the scene. He told police that he did it because he was drunk.
Police Colonel Chatchawarin Boonnak claimed that the American admitted the alleged crime and he could face five years in prison and a fine of up to 10,000 baht (250 GBP).
The police chief said: "We found him walking near the scene when we went there to investigate so we made an arrest instantly.
"We have already contacted the US embassy and will remand him in custody before he will be sent to the court to be charged with the destruction of government properties, so he could face up to five years in prison or a 10,000 baht (250 GBP) fine."
