China has suspended visits to Hong Kong by US military vessels and aircraft, and sanctioned various US-based organisations, a few days after US President Donald Trump signed a law increasing scrutiny of the city. Beijing said it was sanctioning US-based non-government organisations, such as Human Rights Watch, for “supporting violent activities” in the city.
