Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis rushed to quell a storm kicked up by BJP's Ananth Kumar Hegde after he claimed that Fadnavis was made CM briefly to protect RS 40,000 crore funds that were then safely sent to the Centre. These funds were for the bullet train project. Fadnavis asserted that the role of Maharashtra in the project was limited to land acquisition.
