Hey, today I want to talk about is affiliate marketing declining? When I go to Quora I see this question a lot and some people are skeptical of the future of the it. It's a good question.

The short answer is that it has in certain areas and has changed and evolved just like everything right?

Amazon.com did not create affiliate marketing, but they really helped put it on the map. As you can imagine now, they really don't need affiliate marketers.

Amazon has also reduced their pay for affiliates and it's not really that good of a program.

Around 10 years ago when I got started in affiliate marketing I worked with a group of people where we would write reviews on blogs and article directories and then put our affiliate link at the end.

That method does not work anymore. Niche sites, with direct affiliate links do not work. YouTube has changed a lot as well.

I used to be able to backlink the crap out of video to get it high in the search results and I had millions of views from it. Now, backlinks can hurt your videos or posts.

Nobody was using custom thumbnails when I got started and now more people use them.

My thoughts on creating the perfect thumbnail is that it's mostly attached to your ego and it's not that important. If your competition uses them and you don't, you will stand out. Standing out is good in marketing.

The ways people get traffic will change and will always change. Instead of just using YouTube for traffic I use everything. This includes IGTV, TikTok, Podcasting, Linkedin and anywhere there are eyeballs can be used for traffic.

When you have those eyeballs you want to promote your list. The list is where 90% of the money is made.

Here is the thing if you have a very good sales funnel and list, you really don't need that much traffic right?

Keeping a customer or selling to an existing customer is way easier than getting one from scratch right?

There is a trust factor that you have to build with someone. It's just like dating. This is why you need a list because 95% of the time people do not buy the first time they see something.

Plus, that first sale just might be the hardest. One you get that first sale, the second sale can be much easier because you laid the foundation. This is why Gary Vee wrote that book about give, give, give and then ask so you can build the foundation that you need.

To sum everything up affiliate marketing does work and you can make good money from it but it depends on what niche your in, the product you are promoting, your sales funnel and your list.

The way you will get traffic will always change. To me this is the fun part and you get paid to get rejected. It really is a battle with your own ego. This is why you need to believe it what your selling.

Also, the truth is you got to be in it for the long term, like most things in l
