The controversy over funding for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) may have been among the reasons Pakatan Harapan lost the Tanjung Piai by-election but Lim Guan Eng still wants MCA to relinquish its control of the institution.

The Finance Minister said there were many reasons behind the by-election defeat, not solely the TAR UC funding issue.

Lim, who is also the DAP secretary-general, said the outcome in Tanjung Piai was a message that the people wanted to see that the government is able to fulfill its promises made in the manifesto.
