HAWTHRONE, CALIFORNIA — SpaceX is developing Starships, reusable rocket systems that will be used for fast travelling and space exploration.
According to SpaceX, Starship's first stage booster named Super Heavy features 37 Raptor engines that will make Starships the most powerful launch systems ever built.
Super Heavy is designed to separate from Starship and land itself while the spacecraft continues on its trajectory with its six Raptor thrusters.
The Super Heavy booster and Starship will both be capable of reentry and reuse.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told Space.com that the design utilizes 301 stainless steel because it is cost effective and resilient to the heat of atmospheric reentry.
SpaceX claims that Starships will be fast enough to go between anywhere on Earth in less than an hour.
Musk tweeted in June that a Starship will carry one hundred passengers in its cabin and up to a thousand when using its cargo hold.
