South Korea has announced its first female two-star general.
Kan Sun-young has been promoted to Major General in a regular reshuffle and will lead the Army's Aviation Operations Command, which is in charge of the Army's helicopter unit.
Major General Kang expressed gratitude, vowing to continue to serve her country.
Two other female officers, Colonel Kim Joo-hee and Colonel Jeong Eui-sook were also promoted to one-star generals.
