We're closely following the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs David Stilwell this Wednesday morning.
He arrived in Seoul last night for a three-day trip which will include a series of meetings with South Korea's foreign, defense and security officials.
Stilwell is set for a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha later this morning which will be followed by sitdowns with officials from the presidential office and the defense ministry.
Upon arrival Tuesday evening,... Stilwell said he hopes to have productive talks... and reaffirm the strong alliance between Seoul and Washington one that he called the cornerstone of regional security.
Of key interest is what message he will deliver regarding Seoul's decision to pull out of GSOMIA, an intel sharing pact with Japan, which expires later this month.
Stilwell is expected to emphasize its importance... and urge Seoul to retract its decision.
