South Korea's parliamentary speaker held a special lecture at Japan's Waseda University and touched on bilateral issues.
He proposed that the two countries combine voluntary efforts, involving citizens and companies from both sides to fund the compensation of wartime forced laborers.
Moon also suggested the use of a 5-point-2 million U.S. dollar fund that's left from the 1 billion yen Japan provided to South Korea's Reconciliation and Healing Foundation in 2015... to compensate victims of Japan's wartime atrocities.
The Speaker emphasized that the South Korean parliament will work to make such options possible through legislative efforts, while urging Tokyo's participation.
