Gerakan president Dominic Lau has admitted that Gerakan is an underdog in the Tanjung Piai by-election due to its lack of resources compared to Pakatan Harapan and BN. 

However, Dominic said the party has a lot to offer as it is the only multi-racial political party in the by-election. 

Tanjung Piai Bersatu chief Karmaine Sardini will be representing Harapan in safeguarding the seat, while BN counts on MCA's Wee Jeck Seng.
