Brexit stands for the “British exit” from the European Union (EU) – the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the 28-nation bloc. It started with a referendum on June 23, 2016, when 52 per cent of British voters decided their country should leave the EU “to take back control'.' Since then, the UK has been mired in chaotic negotiations with the EU about terms of its Brexit. And as British prime ministers have come and gone, the deadline for London’s departure has only been pushed further back.
