Naomi Watts' 'Game of Thrones' Prequel Canceled The planned spin-off project was set
to take place thousands of years prior
to the events of the original series, but after filming the pilot episode,
it has been axed by HBO. According to Deadline, the cast and crew were recently informed that HBO passed on the project, and will not be taking it to series. The pilot was one of several 'Game of Thrones' related projects put into development at HBO. It is believed that none of the other projects - including one show that focused on the Targaryen bloodline - are believed to moving ahead either. Meanwhile, a source had previously said that the spin-off was thought to be titled, 'Bloodmoon.' It would reveal the "horrifying secrets of Westeros's history to the true origin of the White Walkers."
