日영화제 위안부 다큐 상영보류에 "내 영화도 상영말라"
A Japan-based film festival has decided against screening a documentary about Japan's wartime sexual slavery of women and girls who are commonly known as "comfort women".
The film, 'Shusenjo: The Main Battleground of the Comfort Women Issue', is directed by Japanese-American director Miki Dezaki.
The organizers of the Kawasaki Shinyuri Film Festival said they made the decision based on safety and management risks as some people interviewed in the movie had filed a lawsuit to stop the documentary being screened.
However, the festival's decision has been met by protests.
A film company, Wakamatsu Production, said it was withdrawing two of its movies set to be screened at the festival,... accusing the organizers of "murdering freedom of expression".
