A major success of Indian Railways has come to the fore. Railways have earned Rs 35,073 crore in 10 years by selling scrap. According to details released in response to an RTI application from the Railways, the department has earned Rs 35,073 crore from selling junk in the last 10 years. The details of the scrap issued by the Ministry of Railways in the last 10 years, shows that the department earned Rs 35,073 crore by selling other types of scrap between the period 2009-10 to 2018-19.

भारतीय रेलवे की एक बड़ी कामयाबी सामने आई है। रेलवे ने स्क्रैप बेचकर 10 साल में 35,073 करोड़ रुपये की कमाई की है। रेलवे की तरफ से एक RTI आवेदन के जवाब में जारी ब्‍योरे के अनुसार, विभाग को बीते 10 साल में कबाड़ बेचने से 35,073 करोड़ रुपये की आमदनी हुई है। रेल मंत्रालय ने बीते 10 साल में बेचे गए स्क्रैप को लेकर जो ब्‍योरा जारी किया है, उससे पता चलता है कि वर्ष 2009-10 से वर्ष 2018-19 की अवधि के बीच दूसरे तरह के स्क्रैप बेचकर विभाग ने 35,073 करोड़ रुपये कमाए।
