It seems that Hong Kong protesters will no longer be allowed to wear face masks at public gatherings.
The South China Morning Post reports that Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam will invoke colonial-era emergency powers on Friday...in a bid to quell anti-government protests.
This is the first time in 50 years that the Emergency Regulations Ordinance will take effect.
Such power allows the government to make any regulations if it decides the city faces "an occasion of emergency or public danger."
A face mask ban is currently implemented in 15 countries, including the U.S., Canada and Germany.
