Typhoon Mitag dissipates after leaving destruction in its wake

Typhoon Mitag left mainland Korea and dissipated as of 12 PM Thursday local time.
However, it left behind a trail of destruction,... with recovery efforts now underway in the affected areas.

The Korea Meteorological Agency has completely lifted its typhoon warnings for the entire nation.
However, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarter said it is maintaining its disaster alert status at its second highest level out of three as of 4 PM on Thursday,... as recovery efforts are still underway.
It is relatively calm here now, with Typhoon Mitag leaving Korean Peninsula. But, only after heavy downpours and strong gusts caused serious damages in many parts of the nation overnight.
So far, the six deaths have been reported,... while four are injured and two others are missing.
But the numbers are expected to rise,... given the possibility that some people might still be trapped inside collapsed buildings.
Casualties were mostly caused by flooding and landslides.
Roughly 270 people from 115 households had to flee their homes and take emergency shelter in Gangwon-do, Gyeongsangnam-do provinces and Jeju Island.
More than 44-thousand homes have experienced power outages with about 7,000 still remaining in the dark.
The government has closed down roughly 460 hiking trails in 21 national parks to prevent accidents.
Also, more than 60 maritime routes for some 80 passenger ships were suspended.
Meanwhile, ports that were closed down in the southern parts of the country have resumed normal operations.
Also, flights at 13 airports nationwide have also been resumed, as of 7 a.m. today.
