ಮಹಾಲಯ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ ಪಿತೃಪಕ್ಷ ಕೊನೆಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ದಿನ. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಇದು ಶನಿವಾರದಂದು ಬಂದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಈ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಶನೀಶ್ಚರಿ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಈ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆ ಬರುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಮಹತ್ವವಾದ ದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ.
