Sweet Pongal is a delicious South Indian dish made with rice, moong lentils, ghee, jaggery or sugar, cardamoms, and nuts. It is a traditional dish mostly made to offer gods on special occasions and festivals. Sweet Pongal is known as Chakkara Pongal In Telugu & Sakkarai Pongal In Tamil.
Ingredients :
Rice- ¼ kg
Jaggery- ¼ kg
Ghee- 100 gram
Moong dal- 100 gram
Green cardamom – 3 Nos
Boiled milk- ½ litter
Cashew nuts- 10 Nos

Method :
1. To begin making Chakkra Pongali Recipe (Andhra Style Sweet Pongal), fry the rice & moong dal together in hot ghee until they become aromatic & turn slightly brownish.
2. Next, add water & cook till its has done (say 3 whistles mostly)
3. Meanwhile, take the jaggery and melt it in another pan.
4. Once the rice mix cools down, keep it on the stovetop on medium heat & add jaggery syrup, cardamom powder & keep stirring it continuously.
5. Meanwhile, heat a Kadai with a bit of ghee, and fry the dry fruits till done and keep aside
6. Also, fry the coconut pieces in ghee in the same Kadai for 4-5 minutes until it changes color.
7. Once the Pongali has thickened, switch off the stove & add the dry fruits & toasted coconut.
Chakkara Pongali is ready to serve.
