We begin today with the bilateral summit between President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump,... taking place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The talks are ongoing as we speak.
For more, we have our Park Hee-jun on the line.
Hee-jun, what are we learning as of late?

Talks between Presidents Moon and Trump began around half an hour ago.
They began a little later than scheduled at 5:30 PM, local time,... and they are happening at the Intercontinental Barclay in New York, where President Moon is staying.

This is the ninth summit between the two leaders.
Their previous meeting was in Seoul in June,... where they held a one-on-one and a three-way meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the truce village of Panmunjeom.
So this makes it their first summit in around three months.

The two leaders went into the talks with a lot more on their plate than the last time they met.

President Trump also mentioned a "new method" last week -- that was welcomed by the regime.
At the start of the summit just now,... he added there will be additional measures for the North.
And according to South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha,... the U.S. is open to talks on easing sanctions or providing security guarantees to the regime.
All these remarks hint that we could see a deal, not as inclusive as the 'big deal' that the U.S. had stressed in Vietnam,... but one that takes a step back which could better satisfy the North.

Another thing we need to look out for is whether the trade conflict between Seoul and Tokyo comes up.
Washington has been trying to stay out of this bilateral dispute.
But that became all the more difficult when the dispute prompted the South Korean government to decide to terminate its military intelligence sharing pact with Japan.
And that has left a stain on the trilateral alliance in the region.
The Trump administration has, on numerous occasions, expressed its disappointment with Seoul over the decision.
President Moon is likely to explain the background behind the decision,... and emphasize that regardless of Seoul-Tokyo relations,... Seoul-Washington ties need to be upgraded.

And later in the day,... South Korea and the U.S. will begin their defense cost-sh
